Ile d'Oleron

Up

Linked to the mainland by a 3km viaduct, and accessible from La Rochelle by boat or car, beneath the bridge are the oyster beds in which famous "Marennes - Oleron" oysters are raised.

Then come the magnificent sandy beaches that are ideal for children, sports and water games, backed by vast forests of maritime pines or green oaks.

The island is encircled by sand dunes carpeted with everlasting flowers, grass and pinks. Thanks to the mild climate, mimosa blooms here from January to March.
