The studio, ideal as a city base to explore La Rochelle :

Our second studio is brand new and was first available in July 2005. At 19m2 + 2m2 balcony, it is smaller than our other studios (about the same size as a hotel room - but with many extra facilities), but it is right next to the life of central La Rochelle - and it's cheaper !

It is on the second floor of a brand new Residence (with a lift !), in a busier setting than our other studios and will therefore suit those who would prefer to have city centre activity around them rather than total peace and tranquility !

Take a 10 minute stroll from your studio and you're at the Old Port, surrounded by yachts and bars, in the centre of the life of La Rochelle !

But in case you don't feel like venturing into the centre of La Rochelle every evening, within a minute or two's walk from your studio in other directions, you've got a range of local bars, eateries and shops, either in the student quarter of Ville en Bois, or in the local area of Tasdon ! Perfect for getting a bit of shopping in to cook yourself a meal - or even to get a takeaway pizza ! And no problem popping out for fresh croissants / baguettes in the morning, if you forgot to get some in !

Newly built in 2005, the studio consists of :

bullet

a living/bed room with : sofa (part leather), coffee table, dining table & 2 chairs, TV/video, CD/radio, room safe, a direct dial telephone/answering machine (enabling dial-up internet access if you bring a laptop),  a full sized double bed with quality mattress, which folds to the wall for daytime living space (it is NOT a sofa-bed, klik-klak etc !)

bullet

in one corner of the room is a kitchenette with : 2 ring hob, mini-oven & fridge with freezer compartment (for those G&T ice cubes !)

bullet

a shower room / WC

bullet

balcony, with table and 2 chairs. The balcony faces south - so you get sunshine all day (don't worry though, the roller shutter helps to keep the studio cool !)

and outside : your own parking space in the Residence's private car park

and the ever popular "finishing touches" :

bullet

with your confirmation letter, you'll get our information booklet - with everything from our favourite places to eat and drink, to the all important opening times of local supermarkets - and of course maps and directions for getting to the studio !

bullet

and waiting for you when you arrive :

bullet

an abundance of up to date tourist maps, guides and leaflets - carefully organised to make it easy to find just what you want

bullet

the studio Information Folder with details of everything from the latest weather forecast, times of local markets, and information about how to use all the studio's equipment

bullet

initial supplies of tea, coffee, milk and sugar, so you can have a cuppa to recover from your journey (or if you need something stronger there's always the complimentary bottle of wine !)

The studio is well equipped with heating for the cooler months, with wall mounted electric convector heaters. For the warmer months, the studio is equipped with a ceiling fan for a nice cooling breeze !

We're ashamed to say that some of the internal doors, are too narrow for wheelchairs to get through. Otherwise, the facilities are quite accessible for people with mobility difficulties and there is a lift from the ground floor.

From feedback from guests, the Studio près de la Ville en Bois may be particularly well suited for people with mobility difficulties who use mobility scooters or wheelchairs.
