From mainland Europe Just head for the main A10 Autoroute from Paris to Bordeaux. For Les Studios à La Rochelle, La Rochelle is about 30 minutes from the A10 by dual carriageway or Autoroute. La Vieille Grange is just 10 minutes from junction 37 of the A10. From UK via Channel Tunnel The cheapest route often from UK is to use the Channel Tunnel to Calais - just 61/2 hrs with auto-routes almost all the way - go via Rouen to avoid Paris ! We've used it many times - and it's a great way of getting across/under the Channel ! Standard return fares can be less than £100 (or even less during promotions). Stop Press : during periods of disruption to Eurotunnel services, an "above Channel" alternative is to take the P&O ferry from Dover to Calais and then carry on as you would have ! From UK to St.Malo The shortest way to get to us by car from UK is to use a UK to St.Malo ferry route. Both Brittany Ferries and Condor operate such routes. Brittany Ferries operate crossings from Portsmouth to St.Malo. All year round, they depart Portsmouth 20.30, arriving at St.Malo 08.15. With the new motorway now open around Niort you can be with us in 4 hours (plus stops). So you can be in your gite for lunch on the terrace at 14.00 ! The drive is easy : an hour of good dual carriageway to Nantes, then motorway all the way to us. Costs : Brittany Ferries don't publish prices, which vary according to season, length of stay and demand. Check their website or phoneline for up to date fares. Ways of reducing the costs include (if you've the flexibility !) :
Condor operate high speed services to St.Malo from Poole, Weymouth & Jersey. From UK to Caen The other good route from UK is UK to Caen : it's a quicker crossing, works out cheaper if you have a daytime crossing without a cabin, but it is an extra hour's drive at the other end. However it's now (almost) motorway all the way, with the opening of the final stretch of new motorway between Caen and Rennes Brittany Ferries now operate two services Portsmouth to Caen : a high speed service (weekends only) taking just 3 1/2 hours, or the normal ferry service taking 6 hours with a choice of daytime or night crossings. From UK to other French ports Numerous operators do other routes. If you live in the south west of England, Brittany Ferries offer the following routes :
